Meditation And The Intuition Connection

The purpose of this article is to encourage those who want to develop an intuitive connection. I have been meditating for over thirty-two years now, and the benefits for me have been enormous. My study of meditation actually began when I visited a psychic who recommended that I meditate daily for fifteen minutes. I decided to give it a try, but found it very hard to relax. I would lie on my bed and close my eyes, attempting to quieten my mind. I would check my clock radio, which sat on the headboard of my bed. I thought, “I can’t understand how this is supposed to be good for you?” But I kept trying.

I happened to connect with a Buddhist meditation teacher a few weeks later, and during our class, we were required to sit in silence for 45 minutes. Our teacher would then offer us tea and read to us from a Buddhist text. We then had to meditate in silence for 15 more minutes. By the time I left, I felt very wound up and more on edge than relaxed. Many people find meditating in silence the most relaxing. Now, years later, I do meditate in silence at times.

I found another class where the teacher used relaxing music, used in massage therapy, or the hands-on healing group she taught. I found it made a difference for me right away. I focused on the music and found that instead of only being able to sit for fifteen minutes, I could now sit for a good half hour. The difference meditation has made in my life has been incredible. I am now able to connect with my spirit guides in a way that I truly find amazing. I remember that when I first started to work as a medium, I would only hear spirits; I could not receive any clairvoyant information. I could not see with my mind’s eye. After focusing on daily meditation, my ability to receive pictorial images from the spirit world increased, and I was able to see spirits during my readings.

For those of you who feel you are not psychic, I want to assure you that you are. Every one of us has a sixth sense, commonly called intuition. Through meditation, we can learn to tune into our intuitive side at the drop of a hat. It is not that it needs to be developed; you simply need to become more aware of what you are experiencing and trust it. In every case, we get feelings about things, people, places and events. This feeling we get in the pit of our stomach travels up through our body to our brain, where we receive it as a thought.

Some may say, “How do I know if it is higher guidance, or just my fear or worry?” Higher guidance offers you clear direction, and worry tends to repeat itself and offers no solution. Intuition will sometimes speak to you using only a few words. Your intuition may use words like “turn left, stop here, that person is no good for you,” etc.

Our higher power has blessed us all with the ability to receive intuitive guidance. It is always to be trusted, and we are never alone.
