What can we learn from Past Life Regression?

By Natasha Joy Price

When I experienced my first ever session of past life regression, I was very anxious. I was on a hypnotherapy course, and the trainer put all our names in a hat with the intention to pull one out as a candidate for a past life regression session. The whole group was going to watch, and this probably didn’t help with my anxiety. Being centre stage whilst experiencing something new and scary, was not my idea of fun. Even before the name was pulled, I knew it was going to be me and I was scared. I feared what I was going to see, and what could happen to me. I was worried about getting stuck somewhere or being hurt in some way. Of course, none of those scenarios are possible. As you experience the session, you are always in control and our subconscious is like a bodyguard, monitoring what information is allowed through, so no harm can come to you. During that session I was able to see, much to my amazement, scenes clearly in my mind’s eye, and when the therapist asked me questions, I just knew further information. It was mind boggling to me. I remember the story well. I was a young newly married woman and, to make more of our lives, my husband and I decided to emigrate. We were on a ship travelling to what is now America, and on the journey my husband was shot in a fight by the ship’s captain. I was grief stricken and very frightened, arriving in a new country entirely on my own. Of course, I knew the captain from this current life, which certainly explained a lot about our relationship now!

My life continued to be incredibly hard as I travelled further into the countryside to the homestead that we had purchased. Once there I was completely alone, and there was much to do to survive in what was a harsh environment for me. I remember vividly the feeling of loneliness and exhaustion, and the waves of grief and anger that washed over me. It was strange to feel emotions from a different life and time, emotions that I shouldn’t have been able to feel at all, but which were strong and uncomfortable and repeatedly hitting me. I was incredibly homesick and eventually, I died from an infection in my feet. It was a sad life. The therapist then took me beyond that life into a space, which I suppose you would call spirit, or the afterlife, or heaven even. Wherever it was, I was fascinated by what I was seeing and hearing. Nobody was tricking me or pretending that something was happening. Nobody was forcing me to see these scenes or feel these emotions. It was coming from within me, which made me incredibly curious. It was not something I had ever experienced before, and it was difficult to grasp based on my life up to that point.

Once I had crossed over to the other side the trainer asked my guide to step forward. It was at this point that the most amazing visual formed in my mind’s eye. My guide appeared like a moving ball of droplets suspended in the air, and whenever I asked a question and he or she responded, the droplets all shimmered and moved. It was like nothing that I had ever seen or comprehended before. I found it incredibly moving as if I recognised this guide on some level, and the information that he or she gave me was accurate and helpful. Of course, I could have made the whole thing up. Maybe it was something that I had seen in a movie or read in a book. Except for the emotions that I was feeling. They were real and painful, and speaking with my guide made me want to cry. I’m not normally an emotional person so this was unexpected. Whether what we see in a session is an actual past existence or made up by our subconscious to help us understand a situation or issue that we are currently dealing with, is a point often discussed. However, if you experience a session, it is the emotion that takes it from a mere recollection to a living and feeling scenario. For me I believe that it is a past life that we can glimpse to help us navigate through our current lives, but each of us must draw our own conclusion.

Following that unexpected introduction to past life regression therapy, I was hooked. I did not realise the significance that the healing modality was going to take in my life. When you start having sessions as a client, as we did during the training, to experience what our client’s would see, feel, and hear, it is surprising how much information is available to you. When you are in the moment, you do not always understand the significance of what you are seeing, or why you are being shown a particular piece of information, but the continual insights and understandings are incredibly powerful and eventually help you to make sense of situations and feelings in your current life. Once you embark on this path your perceptions change, and you start to move through life in a very different way, both with your needs and also with your reactions to events. We were told that completing the training would change our lives, but I for one, took that with a pinch of salt. However, I truly believe it has changed my life for the better.

You also begin to understand that our physical bodies and minds are linked and that they both hold memories of our past incarnations. For instance, energy can sometimes be held in our physical muscles so that if you get into the same position that you died when in a past life, energy can be released. I remember experiencing this in a session, and literally seeing the textured energy flowing out of me, as I curled into a foetal position. It was a ‘wow’ moment that has stayed with me until this day. Maybe all emotions have a different ‘texture’ due to their differing vibrations. It would be fascinating to experience more to test that, and maybe I will set my intention to do so in the future.

When visiting these past lives, you also begin to see and understand the amazing skills and knowledge that you held whilst in those lives, and these can often be seen to be repeated. By linking to that thread of energy, you can access that skill or knowledge again and bring it back into your current life. Is there a particular time that fascinates you? Is there an activity that you have always wanted to try? If it is pulling at you, then you may have already experienced it in some life. When you realise how many skills we already hold in our energy, you can see and feel how powerful we really are. The same is true for places. I was always incredibly drawn to Chartres in France and felt as if I recognised the town and Cathedral on some level when I first visited. I now know that I experienced a past life there, and the pre-existing knowledge of that town becomes understandable.

If any of this resonates with you then maybe it is time for you to experience a past life. I would highly recommend having a session of past life regression therapy with a trained therapist who can guide you, and help you receive the information that you need at that time. If you feel drawn to experience a past life through meditation, in a controlled and supported container, then you can also join us for our new course Past Life to Purpose starting in January 2025, kickstarting both healing and a shift for the New Year. In collaboration with Liz Landon of Integrated Hypnosis, we will be exploring our past life memories and shifting our future lives through meditation and hypnosis techniques. It really is a fascinating journey, and it does change your life for the better.
